The Witcher 3’s many story choices make it one of the deepest role-playing games out there. While most of these decisions make sense for a character with a strong moral compass, you certainly have some wiggle room to make bad decisions.
So, feel like being an evil Geralt for your next playthrough? Here are the key decisions you’d make.

Let Radovid Or Dijkstra Control the North
It’s a testament to the excellent writing of The Witcher 3 that many people consider the morally dubious Emhyr var Emreis to be the best victor in the war for the North. Radovid is a demented king hell-bent on hunting down every magic user in sight, while Djikstra’s plan involves the death of Roche, Ves, and Thaler.
Both options are objectively worse than Emhyr, and siding with any one of these two tyrants is a pretty evil decision for Geralt to make.
Play With The Feelings Of Both Triss And Yennefer
Geralt is a lucky man, with two beautiful, intelligent sorceresses vying for his affection throughout Witcher 3. Triss has been with him throughout the games, while Yennefer is his canon love interest from the books. Choosing only one woman is not easy, but one thing only an asshole Geralt would do is say “I love you” to both of them.
It’s a horrible thing to play around with their feelings, and the sorceresses give Geralt exactly the kind of humiliation he deserves for trying to play both sides.
Be A Bad Father To Ciri
The father-daughter relationship between Geralt and Ciri is at the very core of the game. Players must make several critical decisions to ensure that Ciri believes in herself and is able to stop the White Frost.
But those who want to roleplay as an evil Geralt can treat Ciri like a commodity when Emhyr offers him a gold reward for finding her, prevent her from visiting Skjall’s grave, downplay her emotions multiple times, and not let her meet the sorceresses alone.
Ignore Skellige’s Succession Woes
Skellige’s succession troubles after King Bran’s death appear instantly. During a feast where numerous aspirants lay claim to the throne, Birna Bran hatches a deadly plan to allow her son to become the new ruler. Geralt can help uncover this plot and support either Cerys or Hjalmar, which is why ignoring this quest is one of the most evil decisions Geralt can take.
As a result of his unwillingness to help, Birna’s plans are never brought to light and both Cerys & Hjalmar die after an ill-fated attempt to take out a Niilfgaardian fleet.
Go Out Of Your Way To Kill Optional Monsters
As a monster slayer, one would assume that it’s Geralt’s job to hunt down monsters of all shapes and sizes. However, morality is something that prevents the player from just killing any sentient being without a good reason for doing so. Many so-called monsters, including some succubi, trolls, and the doppelganger of Novigrad don’t deserve to die. But an evil Geralt would murder everyone regardless of whether they deserve it or not.
Ignore The Plight Of The Mages In Novigrad
The rampant atrocities of the Witch Hunters in Novigrad are hard to witness, making it easy to see why Triss goes out of her way to save the innocent mages in the city. She asks for Geralt’s help in this selfless goal, but an evil Geralt would certainly ignore her request.
Kill Keira Metz Or Let Her Meet Radovid
Keira Metz is a sorceress who yearns to enjoy the life of luxury she enjoyed before Radovid’s tyranny forced her to become an outcast. To achieve these goals, she tricks Geralt into acquiring Alexander’s research regarding the plague.
She hopes to take this information to Radovid to get in his good graces, but anyone can see that doing this will lead to a brutal death. Players who want their version of Geralt to be apathetic to Keira’s fate can let her saunter to her doom… or finish the job themselves after insulting the witch.
Let Gaunter O’Dimm Take Olgierd’s Soul
Gaunter O’Dimm is a diabolical villain who turns Geralt into his puppet after an unfortunate series of events in the Hearts of Stone expansion. Quite literally the devil of the Witcher world, Gaunter wishes to acquire Olgierd von Everec’s soul after a deal they made.
While Olgierd is certainly not a saint and there’s a good argument for letting Gaunter take his life, we and many people on Reddit think a book-accurate Geralt would choose to give Olgierd another chance.
Let Both Syanna & Anna Henrietta Die Or Let Dettlaff Kill Syanna
Blood & Wine has a lot of events where Geralt must be ethical if he doesn’t want the sisters to perish. The first thing players must do is secure Syanna’s ribbon in the Land of a Thousand Fables so that she can be whisked to safety when Dettlaff moves in to kill her.
After this, Geralt must show a vested interest in figuring out the identity of the fifth victim and talking Syanna down, since failing to do so will lead to the death of both sisters. If an unfeeling Geralt lets things play out without his input, only death and sorrow follow.
Burn Reinald’s Body Before He Can Get Closure Or Get the Deacon Killed
The Next-Gen Update adds a fleshed-out questline where players must uncover the mystery behind a plague that led to the death of many people in an abandoned quarry many years ago. This leads to a confrontation with the now-dead witcher Reinald.
His spirit asks for closure by speaking to a deacon of the Eternal Fire, believing this group to be responsible for his suffering. However, an uncaring Geralt can just unceremoniously burn Reinald’s body before his final wishes are honored, or choose to bring the deacon to his death first.
Let Whoreson Jr. Live
Whoreson Jr. is a despicable human being who relishes in the act of killing and torturing innocents, especially women who have no means of defending themselves. After learning of Ciri and Whoreson Jr.’s interaction, most people would assume that killing this criminal is the only good option. But an evil Geralt would probably let him live, potentially exposing more people to his violence.
Force Desperate Peasants To Fork Over More Cash
As a witcher, Geralt has a right to demand fair payment for the services he provides. Bartering for witcher contracts makes sense, but there are times when players can see the plight of these villagers and choose to forgo the reward, especially given how rich they can become in no time anyway. However, an evil Geralt won’t bother with these feelings of empathy and squeezes these hapless peasants dry.

I’m a passionate gamer with a soft spot for RPGs who has been writing about all things gaming for seven years and counting. The Witcher is one of my favorite franchises that I can’t get enough of, with Geralt’s adventures embedded in my brain ever since the first Witcher game blew my mind!
