A dedicated Witcher 3 fan has recently unearthed a hidden scene that was cut from the final game, originally meant to take place during King Bran’s funeral on the Skellige Islands. Popular Witcher content Youtuber xLetalis shared the scene, which reveals a surprising twist during a quest.
In this cut content, Geralt encounters animated stuffed bears that suddenly come to life. In the official version, players can either fight and win or suffer defeat. However, in this deleted scene, Geralt awakens post-defeat, only to be told by Yennefer that the entire experience was a hallucination.
Geralt, initially convinced he’d died, learns from Yennefer that a needle laced with toxins had caused the bizarre vision upon his entrance to the room.
xLetalis’ discovery prompted a response from CD Projekt Red’s associate game director, Pawel Sasko, who confirmed that the scene was created back in 2014. Sasko expressed delight that fans continue to unearth these secrets, but neither he nor the video explained why the scene was removed.
This find aligns with Sasko’s earlier comments on a podcast about Witcher 3 still hiding mysteries for fans to discover.
It’s one in a recent slew of cut content discovered by modders, like deleted Yennefer ending scenes. We hope to see more mods discovering such hidden scenes, as well as brand-new content.
