Huge news for the upcoming Witcher game: Geralt will make an appearance. The news was revealed by Doug Cockle, the American voice actor who voiced Geralt in the three Witcher games.
Cockle said Geralt will definitely be in the game, but the game won’t focus on him. Aside from that, he’s not allowed to reveal any details. You can see the short clip here.
This means Witcher 4 should be set at a time fairly close to the original trilogy. If we had to guess, Witcher 4 will take place in a possible 100 year-span either before or after Witcher 3 with Geralt appearing as either:
- A younger witcher, maybe with Vesemir as the protagonist
- An older witcher, perhaps taking the role of Vesemir in training new witchers. This is definitely the more likely route.
Whatever the case, it’s awesome to hear this as Geralt is not only an immensely popular character but will also do a great job of connecting the new Witcher trilogy to the existing one.
Witcher 4, codenamed Polaris, is currently slated to be released in 2025 at the earliest. It will be part of a brand new Witcher trilogy built on the Unreal 5 engine.
