Witcher 3 is an amazing game, but the combat can feel clunky. Which is why this new mod is so exciting.
The “Blood and Steel” by modder Riyusso enhances Witcher 3’s combat with improved animations, targeting, and dodging mechanics. The mod adds more attack variety while reducing spinning animations. Attacks now adapt dynamically based on factors like enemy type, count, distance, and direction, providing smoother combat while maintaining the original style.
New dodging mechanics are also included. Holding the block button unlocks fresh dodge animations, such as flanking and avoiding projectiles. For example, holding block while pressing Dodge + Right executes a side dodge, while Dodge + Forward + Right triggers a forward flanking move.
Additionally, a smart system has been added, allowing your character to perform rolling attacks when dodging or moving between enemies. Smoother animations when exiting combat, along with a slightly adjusted combat camera, improve the overall feel. The mod also reduces accidental off-screen targeting.
If you’re a bit frustrated with Witcher 3’s combat, this mod is definitely worth checking out. You can see a quick showcase video below:
