Although CD Projekt Red initially planned a reputation system for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, it never made it into the final game. Thankfully, dedicated modder FreakVIp has brought this feature to life with the Reputation System mod, which is now available on Nexus Mods.
The Reputation System mod allows NPCs to react to Geralt based on his actions. Players can earn Reputation Points by completing witcher contracts, winning horse races, and clearing monsters from abandoned villages, among other activities. Conversely, negative actions like stealing or attacking guards will result in losing points. Even quest decisions will impact Geralt’s reputation.
The system features five reputation ranks: Respected, Liked, Neutral, Disliked, and Hated. These ranks will influence various aspects of gameplay, including the economy.
Reputation is tracked separately in five different regions: Temeria (White Orchard and Velen), Nilfgaard (Wizima and the army camp), Redania (Novigrad, Oxenfurt, and any other regions across the Pontar River), and Skellige (All Skellige islands)
For instance, having a good reputation in Skellige will net Geralt better deals at merchants and more gold for sold items, while being hated in a region will result in higher prices.
The mod enhances the game’s already rich narrative of choices and consequences, adding a new layer of depth to player interactions. It’s one of many amazing new mods following the May 2024 release of the REDkit, CD Projekt’s official modding tool for The Witcher 3.
REDkit has already inspired a host of innovative mods and deleted content and will continue to bring new content to Witcher 3 for years to come.
