After a period of uncertainty, we have official confirmation that Witcher 3’s next-gen version is coming in Q4 2022! CD Projekt Red had us worried when they announced that it was postponed indefinitely, but things seem to be on the right track once again.
This version of the game includes a range of improvements and comes for free to PS5/Xbox Series consoles and the PC. It includes ray tracing and faster loading times, and even some new content in the shape of a Netflix series-based DLC.
CD Projekt Red is taking the development in-house after initially hiring Saber Interactive, who worked in Witcher 3’s Nintendo Switch version.
Those who follow the business side of gaming will remember that Michal Nowakovski from CD Projekt Red already said that insinuations about a 2023 launch were “completely not the case” in his call with investors in April. Still, both the investors and the public are a little less likely to take CD Projekt’s claims at face value after the less-than-stellar launch of Cyberpunk 2077.
Right now, there is nothing to do but wait for the release of the next-gen version of Witcher 3 (and hopefully, soon, more news on the brand new Witcher game that is in development as well). In the meantime, you can shorten the wait by checking out our list of 15 best Witcher 3-like games!
